HAPPY HALLOWEENY!

So, although I am a University student (and haven't dressed up for a school Halloween parade in who knows how many years) I dressed up in grandma gear today and joined my fellow Golden Girls for a day of fun at school! We had a little shin-dig and costume contest! You can't see in this picture, but i was awarded the best RUMP (it was more like a "badonkadonk)! That's right! Melissa, Crystal and i were the geriatrics for the day! Thanks to grandma's old dress and a toybox full of wigs we pulled it off! It was so funny to hear what Crystal's husband said about her costume...something to the point that he hopes she doesn't look like that when she's older! It must not have been the turn-on she was going for! It was so funny! What if we really do look like this when we're 65 or so?? I'm sure i'll have a few more wrinkles, and who knows...maybe one day i'll try brunette! We are all wearing frames that melissa brought from her work at the eye clinic. Apparently they are a real hot item! And what a steal, only 115 bucks! Who in the world would spend that kind of money on those bad boys?! Crazy! Anyway, it was a good time! Hopefully everyone had a Halloween full of Treats and not Tricks!

Gotta Love Fall!

Okay, it's a cheezy picture but we can't always be serious...do you know my husband?!?! This was our date last week! Carving punkins with some friends! Always a good time with the wild and crazy Crystal and Melissa and their co-pilots! :) I'm way excited for Halloween this year. Our dental hygiene teacher is way into dressing up so we all have to come to class in full costume on Halloween. I haven't made any final decisions for my costume yet, but i'm sure there will be a picture posted once it happens!

Snip Snip!

Well, I finally did it! After about 5 years of talking about it...i cut my hair. It sounds dumb that it was even a big deal, but it was a big day for me! I've always had long hair. I've been saying i wanted to cut it for a long time but inside i knew i wasn't ready! A couple years ago i dated this kid who always flipped whenever i would even get a trim. Lots of guys are weird about long hair. When we broke up i was a little on the "bitter" side and i went to the salon and told Brooke to chop it all off. Well, it's a good thing she knew i didn't mean it and she talked me out of it. I think i would have been pretty bummed if i chopped it off just to rub it in someone's face! Anyway, i said i would cut it one day after i got married. So, July came and i got married and it took a couple more months to think on it, but i did it! I made Brett take me to my appointment! He was way supportive, so that was nice! I was a little nervous; it was so fun though, no tears at all! And i LOVE IT! I think there was about 10 inches, so Brooke was sending it to "Locks of Love. "These are the before and afters with brooke my cute friend/ amazing hairdresser! She works at "Panache" in Ogden in case anyone needs a new stylist! You'd love her!

handicapped spots are reserved!!

So, I have this friend whose name i will leave anonymous...everytime she goes in a public bathroom she heads straight for the handicap stall. I always found this interesting and one day i asked her why that was the case. Well, she felt like it was just more comfortable--a little bigger and more room to meditate in! Well, that makes sense, i guess! All i can think of now is a funny and kinda embarrassing thing that happened to me and a good friend in high school...and it had to do with a handicapped stall, but not in the bathroom!
Katie and I pulled into Target and couldn't find the perfect parking spot...in other words we would have had to walk across the whole parking lot to get into the store. Well, being the lazy Americans that we are i just zipped into a handicapped stall thinking it would be no big deal. Heck yes, Front row! Plus, we were only going to be in the store for a few minutes. HA! Not if some old man could help it! Just as i stood up out of the car, barely long enough to shut the door, there was this ticked off old man in his car who blew his horn at us. He proceeded to lift his right hand off the steering wheel and shake his index finger at us. AAgghhh. He KNEW that was his spot! I busted up laughing...of course, the one time i DO park in the handicap spot i get busted!!! It's not like there weren't 12 more of them all around me! So, Katie and i got back in the car and parked in outer darkness and made the hike into Target! HA HA
The moral of the story is: Crystal, you better watch out where you park that thing, cuz handicapped spots are reserved!!!

my hunk

This is me and my hubby Brett! Isn't he adorable! This picture was taken in August at Lake Powell...the greatest vacation spot on earth (besides to Cancun) according to me!!! We had only been married about a week and 1/2 when we went. It was a trip with his family. They have a houseboat timeshare so they make a big family trip every summer. It was really fun and a much needed break! We planned our wedding in 2 crazy months. My cousin got married 3 days before us and Brett's lil sister got married 2 days before us so we had a really busy week. We stayed at a cabin in Island Park and traveled into Yellowstone Ntl. Park for our honeymoon. We were home 2 days and had a second reception in Brett's parents beautiful yard and then 2 days later took off for Powell! It was kinda nice to have 2 weeks off work! And to spend every second of it with Brett was the best time ever! Anyway, that's my little schpill about my summer...all i did was work and wedding stuff...and then a couple quick vacations! I just wanted to see if i could figure out how to post a picture to my blog. If it doesn't work, sorry you couldn't see brett---cuz he's a freakin' hotty!!

Laughing till it hurts

Well, I am really liking this whole blog thing. I like the idea of it when it's not an assignment. Although clinic journals can be entertaining to read and sometimes i even get a kick out of them when i write, i hope with this new blog i will have viewers and commenters other than just those in the dental hygiene world.
A lot of my comments will still probably deal with school because that pretty much consumes my life lately, but it's not all that bad. The laughs usually override the tears....actually, if i have tears it's probably from the laughing so hard!! I'm pretty sure i have the funniest girls in the world sitting on all sides of me a couple times a week. Class, clinic, and in a few weeks we'll add another day of laughs at the VA hospital (mostly during carpool). I don't know why everything is so funny, but i've had a better ab workout in the last 5 weeks of school than i did all summer!
Well, for Crystal and Melissa you will be glad to know that i made a crappy dinner tonight. After being married for only 2 mos. i am already running out of dinner ideas. Well i just wanted something easy, but still good and not in the "Macaroni & Sleeze" category. So i call ol' reliable Max (my mom) and she gave me a few ideas! I don't know how the crap you ruin french-bread pizza, but i managed to do it! First of all, i think i am going 1/2 crazy because i opened the french-bread loaf i bought and noticed it was premade garlic bread. I didn't want to make another trip to the store so brett (my cute, helpful hubby) scraped off the majority of the pound of butter that was caked on the bread and i almost gagged. There was tons! Then, i just added the toppings...sauce, cheese, pepperonskis. Sounds ok huh. Well i threw her in the oven...apparently it was a girl?!! I don't know why it tasted like shiz. The bread was really soggy, i think from the leftover butter on it. Brett didn't really even care for it and that's when you know it's bad! He lived in Tonga for 2 years and i can't even mention what they ate over there without losing the nasty pizza i had for dinner! He at a couple pieces...i think just to make me feel better. But, you better believe that went straight to the trash. I can't imagine it would taste any better as a leftover! So crystal...don't feel bad about the enchiladas the other night. I think i'll make PBJ tomorrow! HA HA
Oh, another reason i think i'm losing it is because today when i came home from school i opened the fridge and i had put a box of Wheat Thins in there this morning after i loaded some up in a baggie for my lunch. It wouldn't be so bad, except for that's like the 5th time i've done something like that in the past 3 weeks! Funny, i kept blaming Brett!!
