The Real Life...

Well, hello fellow bloggers! I have been out of the office for a couple of weeks and am now back in action! Wait...what office?? who am i kidding?! Not for a few more weeks anyway! I am very pleased with a few bits of good news i received in the past week! While i was vacationing in sunny So. Cal my good pal Crystal called to tell me we passed our national boards! That was pretty awesome news! All i know is that if i would have had to sit through that 8 hour test more than once in my lifetime i may reconsider living! Even better news was that our whole class passed, so way to go '06ers! Then after only 10 days of waiting for what i thought would be more like 4 weeks, news came in the mail about the WREB clinical board! Melissa called at about 3:00 in the afternoon to tell me to check the mail...too bad i wasn't home and didn't get there till 12:30 that night! I was pretty anxious to rip that envelope open!! Again, good news--98% good news!! YAY! What a relief! So, now i will be applying for licensure and it will be for real! I will be Jami--RDH!!

So, now that that's behind us, let me tell you about the trip Brett and i just took to Cali! It was awesome, and i sure needed a break from everything! I will just give a quick rundown and a few pics...We spent 2 nights in Anaheim, did the whole Disneyland/California Adventure park-hopper thing! Way fun! I think i like Disneyland more now than i did when i was little! We had enough time to do everything in both parks. So, i guess you're never too old to meet Minnie, right? Last time i went, "Soaring Over California" was my favorite ride, and all who have been there will probably remember how cool it is and agree with me! Well, this time the my favorite was the new "Tower of Terror!" I had NO idea what to expect, and basically almost PEED my pants before the ride was done!! It was the best. If you don't know what it is, i'm sorry but i just cannot tell you! I wouldn't want to ruin it for you!

I'm a huge fan of baseball/softball, so of course we had to get in an MLB game! We hung out with some of the Anaheim Angels! We had awesome seats, so i was lovin every second of it! As the picture shows we bought some souveniers! They played the Mariners at the first game we went to....that's right we ended up going twice! My dad had some connections and we actually got free tickets to another game the night before we headed back to Utah, and we had even better seats than the 1st game! I was so pleased to be there!! So, then we ventured a little further south and met up with one of my best friends from high school, Katie. She is living in San Juan Capistrano now. She took us to the famous In-N-Out Burger for lunch. It was pretty dang good! This is Katie and Brett at In-N-Out. Oh, and Katie's cute little puppy Daphne! Oh, and by the way, in the background are the lines for the 2 drive-ups! It was so packed, there were about 10 cars in the left-turn lane on the road waiting to pull in! We spent the day at Laguna beach basking in the sun! It was fabulous! We spent the night at Katies apartment and then headed further south to our final destination, San Diego! We did some shopping at the Fashion Valley Mall. Of course, we hit up Sea World for a day.My favorite was feeding the dolphins and petting them! Brett's favorite was the seal/sea lion show. The next day we went to the San Diego Temple, it is so beautiful! It has always been one of my favorites! We did a session there and then hung around the grounds for a while. It is breathtaking to be driving down the freeway and you come around the bend and BOOM there it is! I wish it would have been a little sunnier that day for a better picture, but this is it!The rest of the day we spent at La Jolla. It is such a neat little community! There are cute little shops EVERYWHERE! It was a little gloomy, so we just relaxed on the beach, but didn't play in the water. Within walking distance was "seal beach." There had to have been at least 75 seals out relaxing in the sand and the surrounding rocks. They sure do put off a nasty stench though, so my stomach couldn't stay too long!

The next day we headed back towards Ontario. My dad was actually in town for an auto auction so we met up with him in Riverside. The GM at the auction was the one who hooked us up with the Angels tickets for that night, so my dad got to come with us this time! It was really fun! That night my dad put us up in the Mission Inn. It's an old Catholic Mission building they've turned into a hotel and it was SOOO nice! We were totally lovin it! Brett and i had a room with a balcony and view of the gorgeous pool area. We felt loved when we came back from the baseball game and our beds had been turned down for us and there were chocolates waiting for us on our pillows! Now, that's the royal treatment! Too bad we couldn't just live there! The next morning...day 7...we flew back to the blistering heat in Utah! Yowza! We had a great time and got a lot of relaxing in! I'm really looking forward to my next/last big summer vacation---Lake Powell, only 18 more days...but who's counting?!

BIG EVENTS!!!

Well, the 2 big events that every Weber State Dental Hygiene student looks forward to for two long years has already come and gone! It all went by so fast! Our banquet was in Salt Lake City at the beautiful Joseph Smith Memorial Building! Everything looked great...especially all of the students! It was a fun night, kinda long...but i think everyone was expecting that! My favorite parts were the "OCD" awards! Everyone got a kick out of those. It's so true, to be in DH you have to have some kind of OCD disorder! Brett actually told me that I am OCD today because i was telling him how to clean the bathroom (my way)!

Graduation was fun! The 3 stooges (crystal, meliss and me) decided to all buy matching shoes for the occasion!A girl can never have too many shoes! Right?! They were a little extreme and i don't think i even have an outfit that will match, so they might just be a one time use--or maybe it's a good excuse to go shopping! ha ha ha It was a fun little thing to do! The are the crayola "sea-green"---does anyone remember that crayon?!

The speakers were pretty dry, so we stayed entertained by taking self-portraits and waving to family members in the crowd! It was really cool to see Joy Gall get the Health Professions "Teacher of the Year" award! Our class gave her a much deserved standing ovation! It was fun to walk the walk and get an empty diploma! ha ha ha Then on to more pictures! Crystal's mother-in-law handed out those gross looking Billy-Bob teeth to all of us...she said she had never seen a group of people with whiter teeth! So, we had to take some pics with them in!
Then this is the crew for a normal picture! Dang, we're cute!!

It was a good day! I can't believe it's over though. It hasn't really sunk in for me yet...with clinical boards in 2 days i still am feeling a little anxious! Wednesday should be the last day of nerves then Thursday Brett and I are off to California for a week!! OHHH, i can hardly wait! Finally, i can just relax for a while!!!
